Letter to future self:

Dear Alara girl, 20 years from now you will be 41! I hope time is kind to you and it doesn’t pass by too fast… I’m wishing great things for you; to be surrounded by people who are calm with your feelings and who are kind with your trust. I know Anne and Baba will still be your best friends, and you’ll always stay by their side :) Do not let others break your spirit. You haven’t yet. You definitely won’t be holding grudges, judging by your trust in the universe. What’s meant to be will be, and that knowing is your superpower! I expect you to have the cutest kids and to be working hard to keep being your best self. If I know myself, your nails will still be done and you will still be smiling big. I want everything to make sense when I’m an oldie, and for you to be able to tell me that you are a boss queen at your age. I hope that you’ll look back and laugh at our memories, and that you will stay forever 21; youthful and glowy. I bet we still don’t drive and we still only watch reality television, but who knows; anything can change. 20 years ago, you were only one. I mostly hope time didn’t pass you by so quickly and that you are so so so proud of yourself because you always chose yourself first. Do you still have the same boyfriend? Is rain still your favorite weather? Do you live in a ranch, or a cabin, or even a pretty L.A. apartment? Obviously, you’re still outspoken and are eternally your own person! That’s why you probably have everything that you have ever put your mind to, and more :) Send me some signs if you want, girl! Stay fun. Love you mama, enjoy life <3

  9/5/2023 Digital Media Prof. Gutierrez Logo Project Four words/abbreviations that I identify with are: Sunny Loyal Goofy Y2k I did some sketches for a possible logo: These two were my favorite of the sketches I drew, and I chose the dog logo to personalize and vectorize. After I went into Illustrator, I initially just went in with the Paintbrush tool and things were not looking good: Then I used the Ellipse tool and my logo still wasn’t turning out. It looks more like a reindeer or an indie clothing company's logo, but that's not what I'm going for. At this point, I thought there was no way I was going to be able to make an ‘ok’ logo: I need to use the tutorials on CANVAS to refresh my memory about how to trace/actually use the mutually beneficial tools on Illustrator, instead of just using one medium. I really didn’t want to submit the previous logos as my assignment. So far this is embarrassing, but I’m not giving up and I know that I can produce something much better. ...

First Class!

9/4/2023 Digital Media Prof. Gutierrez I’m Alara. I’m Turkish and am my parents’ favorite/only daughter. We have two dogs: Dolce and Dodo, and at school I have two cats: Beau and Princess. They are very cute, even if they are a little feisty sometimes. I am a senior and am not ready to graduate at all, because I really love UT and definitely chose the best school for me! My favorite things to do are going to the beach and just hanging out. My life is pretty slow-paced and chilled, which I love.  I really enjoyed our first class. It absolutely reminded me that no matter my profession, it is useful to know the skills that others working with me will be using, e.g. logo design, graphics etc., so that I can at least understand what’s going on and be a better team player/communicator; which is extremely relevant because I am a communications major. I had to take plenty of notes on certain concepts we went through in our first class because I knew there was no way I would have remembere...
